Today (Monday 23rd July), the Ask Insight team had the pleasure of coming face to face with an Olympic torch and its Olympic flame torchbearer, Martial Arts Champion Rebecca Kane.
Kickboxing instructor Rebecca (27) has a goal to bring people from all walks of life together in a sport that has numerous health benefits as well as self-defence skills. Rebecca teaches children from 3 years old and some of her students suffer from Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Asperger’s, ADHD & anger management issues. Everyone is made to feel welcome by Rebecca and she is an inspiration to all which is why she was chosen run with the torch in Huddersfield.
The torchbearer scheme aims to recognise and reward people with a story of personal achievement or those who have contributed to their community. It also brings the Olympic spirit to towns and cities outside of London.
It was a pleasure to meet Rebecca and we wish her well in her future ventures which will no doubt have a positive impact on people’s lives in the Kirklees area. And here’s to Team GB winning some medals!
