On Saturday the Ask Insight field research team had the pleasure of working at the official opening of City Park in Bradford city centre.
City Park has been transformed to create a whole new landscape of fountains, trees and green spaces. The centrepiece of City Park is the Mirror Pool which has more than 100 illuminated fountains and can be filled with water but also drained and used for public events.
The launch event was a light and sound spectacular which featured a pair of acrobatic ballet dancers elevated above the Mirror Pool on two glowing balloons, followed by an impressive fireworks display lighting up the sky in the six-acre park.
Street theatre groups, stilt walkers, Bradford Brass Bands, drummers and musicians playing ska, dixie and Latin music entertained the crowds throughout the day.
The official opening marks the end of a major two-year construction project which has involved workers working for more than 330,000 hours to create the new multi-million pound showpiece park.
Ask Insight was commissioned by Bradford Council to gain visitor feedback on City Park and the launch event. The information received will help the council evaluate the event and will provide valuable insight on the perceptions and experiences of those that attended, as well as shape the future events agenda for the city.
